It seems that today everyone is on Zillow looking at photos of homes and checking their own home’s value with the Zestimate tool.
Because of that, everybody has been asking me whether or not the Zestimate is accurate.
The Zestimate itself is a really helpful tool if you’re just browsing and want an idea of a home’s value, but, in Zillow’s own words, the Zestimate is nothing more than a starting point for value and should not be a replacement for a real estate agent’s professional opinion of value based on a comparable market analysis.
That’s why we at the Peirce Group actually do a unique, proprietary market evaluation called an equity evaluation. We value the property in four different ways, one of which is the e-Estimate.

Hurricane Matthew swept through the LowCountry with maximum wind gusts of 88 mph and dropping 14” of rain. The clean-up process is rather daunting. It has been rumored that over 180,000 were lost on Hilton Head alone. One person likened the piles of cut logs and limbs that line the sides of the roads to banks of snow after a blizzard in the North. Tree and landscape crews from all over the US responded quickly and their efforts can be seen each day.
As we return to work, school and daily routines, most of our conversations center around assessing damages, evacuation adventures, and stories from those who rode out the storm. The overall atmosphere remains positive. Roofs and leaks can be fixed. Soaked carpets can be replaced. Today we have made new friends, lent a hand to our neighbors, and volunteered our time to assist others.
